Born Yeung Chak Wah in Hong Kong, Miriam Yeung came third in the TVB 14th annual New Talent Singing Awards competition in 1995 and began her music career under Capital Artists, growing to become a Cantopop diva in the millennium. She reached the high point of her career in 2002, when she scooped both a Gold Award for Best Female Artist in the Commercial Radio Ultimate Song Chart Awards, and Most Popular Female Singer at the Jade Solid Gold Best Ten Music Awards.

She also forged a reputation as a film actress, making her screen debut in Rumble Ages (1998) and playing her first leading role in Dummy Mommy, Without a Baby (2001). She followed this up with Love Undercover (2002), which made her a household name. Yeung has won many hearts with her happy-go-lucky screen persona, most notably in romantic comedies such as Dry Wood, Fierce Fire (2002), My Lucky Star (2003) and Elixir of Love (2004). Drink Drank Drunk (2005) garnered her a Best Actress nomination at the 42nd Golden Horse Awards, alongside other nominations that saw her receive wide recognition.

She married Real Ting Chi Ko, former member of boy band VRF, in 2009. For Hooked On You (2007), she was nominated for Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards, and won the award for Perfect Wedding (2010). Love in a Puff (2010), which was directed by Pang Ho Cheung, was another hit, earning Yeung her first nomination for Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards. She won the award in 2013 for the sequel, Love in the Buff (2012).

After giving birth to a son, she explored a variety of film genres besides comedy, starring in Aberdeen (2014), She Remembers, He Forgets (2015), and box office hits Little Big Master (2015) and Love Off the Cuff (2017).
