Mr Simon Yam Tat Wah



Born in Hong Kong, actor Simon Yam was a model before joining TVB and starring in numerous classic TV dramas such as A House is Not a Home (1977), The Shell Game (1978) and Police Cadet II (1985). He began his movie career in the early 1980s. With his statuesque physique, Yam has portrayed cops and gangsters with flair in such films as Full Contact (1992), “The Young and Dangerous” series, The Mission (1999), Exiled (2006) and Sparrow (2008). Yam broke into Hollywood in 2003 with Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. In 2004 and 2006, he won Best Actor at the Golden Bauhinia Awards for his performances in the Johnnie To-helmed PTU (2003) and Election (2005). In 2010, he won Best Actor for Ann Hui’s Night and Fog (2009) at the film festival in Spain, and another Best Actor for Echoes of the Rainbow (2010) at the Hong Kong Film Awards. In 2013, Yam directed his first film, Tales from the Dark 1 (2013).
