International Tourist Guide Day 2006 at Avenue of Stars

Avenue of Stars today (February 25) joins with Hong Kong Association of Registered Tour Co-ordinators (HARTCO) to organize the International Tourist Guide Day 2006, an annual activity in the tourism industry aiming to promote the professionalism of tourist guides. Around 20 tourist guides, in their colorful and eye-catching bands, provided touring service in the Avenue in different dialects such as German, Japanese, Thai, English, Putonghua and Cantonese.

Today's officiating guests include Mr. Wong Wai Wing, Chairman of HARTCO and Mr. Raymond To, Executive Director of New World Group Avenue of Stars Management Limited (AOSML).

Mr. Raymond To of AOSML said at the ceremony that professional tourist guides were vital in the tourism industry. "Since opening in April 2004, the Avenue of Stars has a patronage of over 15 million people; while many of them were toured by proficient tourist guides." He said the Avenue would continue to collaborate with tourist guides to provide overseas visitors with fascinating experience in the Avenue and Hong Kong alike.

At the function, tourist guides demonstrated their proficiency and wittiness when chitchatting with the emcee. Moreover, their touring service in the Avenue has been well received by the overseas tourists.
